National flag of Hungary. Adopted in 1957. The flag was originally used as an independence flag leading up to the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. The revolution failed and the flag was banned by the Hapsburgs.

The Compromise of 1867 created the Astro-Hungarian Empire and removed the ban on the flag. The tri-color with the Hungarian coat of arms became the official flag of Hungary from 1867-1918.

The plain tri-color that Hungary uses today was the national flag from 1918-1919, before Hungary was overthrown by a short lived Communist dictatorship. The plain tri-color was restored during the 1956 anti-Communist uprising. Even though the uprising failed, the Hungarians did get their original flag back.

3'x5' flags are 3ft x 5ft, 36in. by 60in, 91cm by 152cm, 1yard by 1.7yard. This is the most common size flag you see hanging on porches, small flag poles, hanging at festivals, and inside of bars and restaurants.
